Engineering Services
SatCon Applied Technology is the center for research and development
for SatCon Technology Corporation. In addition to performing research
that supports the needs of SatCon’s other divisions, SatCon performs
contract Research and Development for both government agencies and private
industry. We have used our expertise in custom power devices, system
integration, dynamic system modeling, packaging and thermal management
to assist our customers in achieving technology breakthroughs which support
the next generation of their products and systems.
In today’s world of limited budgets and scarce internal resources,
outsourcing of engineering, research and development tasks is an increasingly
attractive alternative. SatCon has a team of highly talented and creative
engineers experienced in the analytical and design skills necessary for
successful development efforts. Over forty percent of the staff have
advanced degrees, with over twenty percent of the staff having PhDs.
SatCon has successfully completed over 125 Small Business Innovative
Research (SBIR) projects, which have advanced the state of the art in
a number of areas.
We have groups with the complete range of skills necessary for power
conversion and electromechanical developments, including Computer Aided
Design, Controls and Software, Power Electronics, Digital Electronics,
Electromagnetics, Mechanical and Thermal Design and Analysis. Our facilities
include a fully-equipped machine shop and technician staff for prototyping
of both mechanical and electrical assemblies.
