SatCon’s Applied Technology division provides a full range of trade study, analysis, design, prototype, testing, and low rate production for electric machinery and magnetics components and systems. If it converts between mechanical and electrical energy SatCon can provide the solution.
Some key developments include:

• Liquid cooled high speed motors from 2.5 to 5.5 psi shear
• High temperature magnetic bearings systems (>1000ºF)
• Low speed torque motors at higher shear (> 3 Nm/lb)
• Innovative thermal management systems (WEG, oil, phase change, and thermoelectrics)
• High speed record setting flywheels (4,668 mph)
• Actuators (MEMS and high force)
